in the book by Frank Zappa on his life, he has a cartoon
drawing of a radio broadcast tower with a large vertical
sign on it: KHTS All the Hits
                   All the Time
                   All 6 of them

it was quite saddening to hear last week in a restaurant in
another country 12 hours by plane from the US the same muzak
I had heard 24 hours earlier in a restaurant in Burbank.
Not to mention being an unwilling captive audience at two
airports to a loud omnipresent broadcast from the CNN
network, with no way to turn down the volume or change the
channel.
