1a. The IP will likely not have a hard matte, allowing for "full frame"
transfers for 1.33 TV without pan and scan (for a picture shot flat,
obviously not true for anamorphic). This was actually the original reason
for using IP's back in the early days of feature mastering, in the late
70's/early 80's, even though Rank Cintel telecines were certainly not set up
for it at the time (much hand modification to telecine internals done in
those days!).
