Re: InterPos

+AD4-I've been wondering why telecine facilities in the USA seem to have a
+AD4-preference for Inter Pos when grading/tranferring feature films.

1. An IP is at least one generation above a print, and not subject to the
steeper gamma of print, which is usually calculated for use in front of a
powerful projection lamp.

2. Almost always, an IP will be timed, making for a simpler transfer. This
was not always the case, BTW, but modern telecines and color correctors have
enough range to handle just about anything.

3. The original negative is usually in the studio's vault and not available
anyway.

Best regards,
Christopher Bacon
