It's not the effort, it's the money. It's always the money.
Anything that doesn't directly and immediately affect what shows in front
of the lens is squeezed mercilessly, more and more each year.
With the exception of the key players behind the lens (and sometimes even
them), virtually everything in terms of services goes to the lowest bidder
when dealing with the major studios. And the lowest bidder rarely has newer
gear or maintains the gear they have. Or even understands how to get the
best out of the gear they have.
