No, it's not. There's a vast difference between the two.
The first is about disregarding form and concentrating on content, which
was what the original comment was about.
The second is about disregarding who financed a paper and how it's contents
are potentially skewed towards that patron's point of view.
Not a lot of people on this list would accept as scientifically unbiased a
paper on the superiority of CCD scanning over CRT scanning if they knew
that the writing of the paper was financed by Philips and Kodak, would
