Re: "A"frame assignments

Hi Kevin,

As in many other things, there are many ways to skin this cat, so there is
no absolute requirement that there be a hole punch anywhere in a piece of
film. However, most negative cutters insist on it as it is usually the
only way they can tell if the pulldown came in properly and the "0" frame
in the video (and EDL if one was generated) actually matches the "0" film
frame. Many also request tail punches, which are used to verify the
accuracy of the Keykode reader.

If everything worked absolutely perfectly all the time, lack of hole
punches probably would not be seen as much of a problem, But without them,
you are taking a big gamble with the material.

Best regards,
Christopher Bacon
