Has anyone used a filtering system or trick to adapt filters on the
spirit ?
(optical filtering)

Thanks,
Christophe.

Currently you can get a set of filters from South London Filter company
which can be inserted in the light path between the film and the projector
lens for the usual diffusion effects. This is a temporary solution as the
light is diffuse at this point in the optical system and if the filters are to
thick it will effect resolution. ( these temporary filters are very thin and
have to effect on resolution. ) The correct optical positioning for the
filters is ontop the projector lens before the beam splitter where the light
is collimated. Philips has completed the design of a filter drawer for the
Spirit DataCine which will accept a thicker filter for optical effects, again
these filters will be made by South London Filter Company and the filters
will be positioned at the correct point in the light path. This is a far more
elegant solution than using the thin temporary filters.

This will be an option for the Spirit, and all existing machines can be
upgraded with this option.
